(Written the 24 of April, but posted the 27 because of bad internet connection)

This week-end, from the 24 of April to the 26 of April, it is the Swim Team Championship in Quebec City. During this swim meet, the seven best clubs in the province of Quebec are competing against each other to determine which club is the best. The swimmers gain points for their team by making finals and winning events. A first place is worth 13 points, a second place is worth 11 points, a third place is worth 9 points, a fourth place is worth 7 points, a fifth place is worth 6 points, a sixth place is worth 5 points, a seventh place is worth 4 points, an eight place is worth 3 points, a ninth place is worth 2 points and a tenth place is worth 1 point. I left on Thursday (the 23 of April) from Pointe-Claire, with the Pointe-Claire Swim Club, and we arrived in Quebec City around 8 o’clock. During this swim meet, I will be swimming for the Pointe-Claire Swim Club and try to make as many points as possible for the team. Also, this swim meet is a good occasion for me to continue my research. There are many high performance swimmers from everywhere across Quebec who can complete my survey. Furthermore, there are all the coaches of the best swim clubs in Quebec that I can interview for my research. Today’s first day of the competition is already over and during that day there were ten new high performance swimmers, mostly from Quebec City and Brossard, who answered my survey. Unfortunately for the interviews, I didn’t have the opportunity to talk to the coaches because during the swim meet they are all very busy doing their job and they don’t really have time for interviews. However, for the next two days of competition, I will try harder and hopefully some of them will have time and will be willing to do the interview. As for the competition, I think I did pretty well with a fourth place in the 100 freestyle, an event which I don’t train for. The Pointe-Claire Swim Team performed well by taking the lead of the competition with 849 points. As for the other clubs, Club de Natation de Quebec came in second with 617 points, Club Aquatique de Montreal came in third with 585.5 points, Club de natation de Gatineau came in fourth with 485.5 points, Club de natation Samak from Brossard came in fifth with 346.5 points, Club de natation de l’Université Laval came in sixth with 323 points and finally Club de Natation de Piscine du Parc Olympique came in seventh with 137.5 points. This day was incredibly fun and I’m looking forward to the next two days. Until then, here are some pictures of the first day:
