Today was the second day of the Swim Team Championship. Once again the Pointe-Claire Swim Club did very well and still hold the lead in the competition with 1728 points. As for the other clubs, Club de Natation de Quebec is in second with 1071 points, Club Aquatique de Montreal is in third with 1064 points, Club de natation de Gatineau is in fourth with 809 points, Club de natation Samak from Brossard in fifth with 671 points, Club de natation Rouge et Or de l’Université Laval is in sixth with 596 points and finally Club de Natation de la Piscine du Parc Olympique is in seventh with 249 points. As for myself, I did well by taking first place in the 100 meters breastroke and third place in the 4x50 individual medley relay. I’m happy with my performance because I contributed to the team by giving them 21 points. Also, I advanced my research as there are ten new high performance swimmers who completed my survey (6 boys and 4 girls). I went to see the swimmers from the Club Aquatique de Montreal and 9 of them finished my survey. They were all very nice and cooperative in the process. Furthermore, one of them helped me by asking other swimmers to complete the survey, therefore expanding my research to swimmers from Gatineau. She also was very cooperative. I think that because the research is about swimming, the swimmers are very helpful and want to participate. As for the interviews, I gave up on them because the coaches don’t have the time to do them and don’t really want to do them. Consequently, I made another survey especially for the coaches. This new method has enabled me to receive results from the coaches in a much simpler manner. The head coach of the Club Aquatique de Montreal, Claude St-Jean already completed the survey. Claude has been coaching for 40 years and has coached many Olympians. His swimmers have won 47 medals on the World Cup circuit. In general, today was an amazing day, there was a lot of cheering going on from all the clubs and the competition itself is very intense. Every point count! That’s why this competition provides a fun atmosphere compared too other swim meets, where there is usually no points. Finally, here are some picture of today:
